Clair Obscur Triumphs at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third yearly Golden Joystick Awards were hosted recently, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the most decorated winner. The surprise role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Excellence in Visuals.
Enhancing the developer's achievements, the talented cast also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Actor for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers collected seven awards during the show.
Other notable winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Premier PC Title. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the audience, with only 4 awards—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers' Favorite—determined by reviewers.
