Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the global fight fans offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
